The building of the Hypergrid Welcome Center

        • Creative collaboration is often done by combining parts made by different people.
        • That is my idea for the Hypergrid Welcome Center.
        • The HG WelcomeDevs island is intended to support collection, selection, and distribution of elements for a HGWelcome Center.
        • As of now, I have put out some panels presenting plans for the HGWC.
        • If you want to put out something, contact Selby Evans for rez rights.
        • Don't worry about placement.  We are now just collecting.
        • If you want to present organized content, Link the parts and put the set in the air,
        • As of now, I expect we will one or more model welcome builds.
        • The builds could be used in multiple locations.
        • Every community might have its own welcome center.

What might go in the HGWC?

        • Text instruction panels in poster form,
        -
        • Items offering instruction and practice in skills needed in virtual worlds.
        • Practice shows beginners how to learn on their own.
        • Instructional challenges: instruction on one skill followed by a challenge.
        • "Understand?  Prove it: do [insert action that demonstrates the skill].
        -
        • Destination options: Wakin TPs or Landmarks to places for newcomers
        -
        • Other: To Be Determined (TBD)

        Details of the current plan

        • People in the WelcomeDevs group can place objects designed for use in the HWC.
        • The objects can be free to copy.
        • Or they can be no-copy items offered as models.
        • The parcel has no set return time, but items may be returned if needed.
        • For an invitation to this group, contact Selby Evans.
        • The group will work out additional plans.
        • The space set for the parcel can be expanded to sim sized if needed.

        FAQ

Could smaller parcels be made available?  Maybe.  But I am not sure that individual parcels make sense for collaboration.  The groups can, with the present arrangements, allocate land by gentleman's agreement.
